The summer stretches on: the heat unrelenting. What's a person to do? Join us for a final summer splash walk as we follow the bayou from the old East End into town. Then to Discovery Green for several choices to cool off, on to the Toyota Center for the best in outdoor air conditioning, and finally to Settegast Park for the final rinse.

On a summer walk you are going to get wet, so bring your swimsuits, pool shoes, towels, umbrellas, etc. Just remember to dry your feet before you put your shoes back on....

It is recommended to wear loose, light-colored clothing.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. The heat in Texas is always a concern so let someone know if you are having a hard time. For more information about hiking check out this very useful hiking website: https://www.hatsandmore.org/

This unofficial street soccer court was created as part of the Houston Town Futsal Ball-A-Block program. These weekend pickups at The Block are free to play, but donations are appreciated to help maintain the space.

Ball-A-Block Program
Ball-A-Block is our version of the Adopt-A-Block program, but in the process of picking up litter, we are also creating open spaces for public use where Houstonians can play street soccer. Essentially, this is our DIY approach to making use of dilapidated asphalt surfaces and/or concrete structures and flipping them into pop-up futsal courts for pubic use.

Location
The Block street soccer court is located in at EaDog Park (across the street from 8th Wonder Brewery) at 2218 Polk St.

How We Play

  • Don't be a dick (don't be the one killing the vibe)

  • 5v5 (no goalies)

  • 1st team to two goals wins (5:00 minute games if no goal scored)

  • King of the Court (winner stays)

  • You shank, you shag (you kick the ball off the court then you get it)
