Events Coming up

Today is Revenge of the Fifth!

I hope you enjoyed some of the Star Wars themed events that took place this weekend. Some of the cosplays we saw were awesome! Here is our list of events some are a little further out for those who need to plan your schedules.

Also…if any of you know of indie book fairs that are coming up. Please let us know! We loved to post about it.

Since 1989, Writers in the Schools (WITS) has brought Houston schoolchildren to the Menil Collection to write about the artworks they encounter. Students are invited to present select writings resulting from these visits, at the end of the school year.

This lecture takes place in the main building, located at 1533 Sul Ross Street. This is a free event on May 23 from 7pm to 8pm.

Artechouse: Time and Space (Last day is May 12th)

Three unique artistic experiences all reveal our universe through the latest in experiential storytelling. Coming to life across 26,000 square feet of immersive, interactive, and cinematic installations, you will get a chance to discover:

BEYOND THE LIGHT, an Award-winning ARTECHOUSE Studio original production in collaboration with NASA. Using the latest images from the James Webb Space and Hubble Space Telescopes, “Beyond the Light” is a thrilling interstellar journey into the deepest reaches of the cosmos across 8 immersive or interactive installations.

INTANGIBLE FORMS, Japanese multimedia artist Shohei Fujimoto employs choreographed lasers, strobes and moving lights to explore the universal connections between living beings and their realities. Each piece from the exhibit offers you the chance to contemplate what it means to be human amid chaos and order. **Please note that this exhibition features lasers, strobes, and water-based haze effects and is not recommended for those with a history of light sensitivity.

ETERNAL LIFE, created by ARTECHOUSE Studio in collaboration with the Nobel Prize Museum, this installation explores existence through Nobel Prize-winning works such as the celestial orbits and the revolutionary CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology.

Unleash your inner paleontologist and immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind prehistoric adventure featuring 6x more Dinosaurs, with 60 NEW dinosaurs at TXU Energy presents Jurassic Giants at the Houston Zoo.
